Great Sand Hills

The Great Sand Hills are one of Canada’s largest active sand dunes. Continued vigilance is necessary to ensure this great treasure is not compromised by oil and gas development.

The Great Sand Hills area is made up of 1,942 square km of prairie that is rich in endangered and rare species of plants and animals. It includes both active and inactive sand dunes.

The area has been pinpointed for oil and gas development.
